Thanks to the new e-bikes long and steep cycling trails have lost much of their horror. With ease steep stretches can be mastered any cycling with overzealous cycling partners becomes a pleasure. You can't avoid pedalling altoghetzer, but a small electric motor equipped with a battery comes into great use on difficult stretches and in headwind.
